And you can stop spamming the board with duplicate posts, too - that's pathetic.

If you have a problem with the software, take it up with Capture One.

But here's a tip - hardly rocket science: don't wait three hours between saves.

    Two points -

    1. Capture One's release notes for the latest release of Capture One 23 say that it supports Ventura up to 13.1. Whether Ventura 13.2 has introduced a problem, I don't know, but it's usually safer to wait until Capture One says it provides support.
    2. It's not clear whether you are working in a catalog or a session. If it's a session, it should be pretty hard to lose work because all the edits are stored in sidecar files outside of Capture One's database. If it's a catalog, can you not restore the catalog from a Time Machine backup newer than 3 hours ago?

HI Ian thank you ...  I agree with you about updating this is way I always try not to jump right into able OS updating...

I always work in sessions ...Hmm ... I was amazed that the work was lost ie .. the section process of staring additional images went back to 177 from 249 , and of course all the adjustment are gone (normally on set we start few and then in the processing session we add more selections)

Is it possible to access and or check the "side car" or reengage it ?

    thanks for your help

The edits in the sidecars should just be seen by Capture One without you doing anything to access them. But if you are talking of star ratings, it's possible that those are stored in the session file.

Everything is stored in the sidecar files (.cos). Maybe in addition there is also a copy in the session database, I don't know.

As Ian points out, the edits and ratings should be seen by Capture One. But you can try to create a new session and import the images (inclusing adjustments) from the file sytem (or just browse to the folders the images are in using the library tools system folders). If the edits and ratings are still in the cos files then it should reflect them in C1.

And Keith, how do you save your edits in between? C1 automatically saves the edits done in a session immediately on its own.

got it ... fyi I have submitted this to C1 support ... Have not heard any back though... Just tried lunching the data base on my 16 inch machine running Monterey ... still the same results ... the 3 hours of work , adjusting, croping and adjustment layers and staring all gone... it is like it nothing had been recorded In those 3 hour ( Not perfectly understanding how C1 works but save is not part of the process the way it is in photoshop fundmently , it is like the data base auto records and save ,,, my naïve understanding) another FYI I probably use the app nearly everyday my shoots have 300 to about 600 images per.

    Again I appreciate  your thoughts

BEO thanks I haven't try that one ie create a new session and bring the data base in ...

In this case in the folder I only see " 01.19.23_Kathleen Turco-Lyon.cosessiondb"( and than the other session folders ie capture ,output ect.) which I believe is the data base , is the side car built into the data base ?

Don't try to bring the database in. Just start a new session and navigate to the folder with the images in the Library tool - the edits should show. The database mainly includes things like your albums, smart albums etc

... but you've still got the problem of the version of MacOS maybe not being supported.

Yes, as Ian said, don't bring the database file (with extension .cosessiondb) into the new session.

But navigate in the Library tool to the folders Capture (and maybe Selects too). The sidecar files containing the edits (the .cos files) are not actually "side"car but "below"car files in the folder beneath the image folder (e.g. "Capture") with the name CaptureOne/Settings16.0.x/

Edit:  these .cos file will be read by C1 automatically if you navigate to the image folder (or if you import the images from the image folder into a new session or catalog)

of gosh no success on that plan

Also I just found out  13.02 which just came out 5 days ago ! (by calling apple, thank god they have support still) ,

I did not know that !I was aware Ventura 13.01 has been around for some time so I thought most of the bugs were worked ....errr and evidently there's no going back on operating systems says Apple, hopefully that small update from 13.01 to 13.02 isn't a big consequence,,, still waiting to hear from Capture one.

The mystery is why we are not inundated with complaints about conflicts between a version Capture One and the updated OS. It is possible for a change in the OS to expose a flaw in Capture One, but then you would expect a lot of folks to report it. Often the timing of a catastrophe and an OS change is coincidental. It may relate to intermediate factors, like customization or hardware.

Hmmm yep the up date does not  seem like a big one ,,, but like you said, no telling what is going on "under the hood"... also update C1 23, 16.02.21 from 16.01  I'm hoping support get back to me soon ... I I have no choice now at the moment to go back and redo the work, need to deliver.  hopefully I get through it with out hitting the wall again ... I will be sure to share what I find out ,,, Thanks for the support guys
