Drastic image jump?
I recently updated to Capture One 23 Pro with the Canon R5/Mac Studio M1 Ultra. Using the keyboard or Canon's Remote Switch to shoot (not touching the camera) and the camera is on a very sturdy mono stand. Sturdy concrete floor. Nothing touching the stand, camera or table. Object I'm shooting is not moving.
I'm shooting focus stacks, so it's important for each frame to be as consistent as possible. Unfortunately, sometimes, the image will jump all over the place. Every shot is slightly different. I'm talking about up/down/sideways. This is even without changing the focus. Only a few pixels here, a few pixels there, but very noticeable.
I've noticed this phenomenon in the past on occasion over the years, but this is unnerving. Luckily, the stitching software can correct it, but I'd much rather keep the problem from happening.
Also, this doesn't happen all of the time! I don't think I've ever noticed it when I first start up for the day. Other than that, I can't figure out a pattern.
Anybody have ideas as to what is happening? Is there a setting in my camera that I inadvertently selected that would cause this? This is a manual tilt-shift lens, so autofocus shouldn't be a variable.
Thanks for any and all suggestions!

I believe your image stabilization is on. Turn it off and your image won’t jump.

You're right, zelig! I just turned that on and will report back if the problem isn't resolved. Thanks so much!

Not sure what happened to my previous post- the problem had started happening again, but I finally realized that if I zeroed out rotation, it fixed it...
Oh, and zelig Ezelsky, I just realized that you said to turn IS off, but I turned it on to fix it. Perhaps at the same time coincidentally I straightened out the rotation angle and THAT is what ended up fixing it. If I notice anything else that changes, I will post here.

As a general “rule”, always turn off image stabilization when your camera is on a tripod, otherwise, your image will move trying to further stabilize itself.
