This must be a hard problem to solve. Lightroom's local adjustments don't allow sharpness radius or detail changes, nor anything other than a single noise slider.

There a bunch of posts and support tickets for metadata problems. Turning Preferences > Image > Metadata > Auto Sync Sidecar XMP to none is a work-around, but might give you other metadata problems.

No. I can't reproduce that crash. I can double right click on an image in the browser or the viewer and get no crash.Mac OS X 10.8.2Mac Pro

I've been using Dropbox to do that by keeping my catalog on Dropbox. I'm careful to quit CO on one computer before opening it on the other.But I don't know if this is a supported way to use a catalog.
