You will only create side car file if you use the Sync Annotations command, otherwise all info will stop in the MP1 database without creating a side car file.

What you are missing Grant is that DPR imported the image into Lightroom converting it into a Adobe DNG, Adobe's converted DNG is not the same as a Pentax DNG.
