Why is it taking ages for Process Recipe to finish?
It's taking an unusual amount of time to process RAW files to small JPGs, around 5 seconds for each one. I'm waiting half an hour to process 200 photos into small JPGs and it gets slower the longer it goes on. I have a modern computer with plenty of processing power, but it's taking ages to process these. Thoughts?

iMacs have thermal issues that can cause the GPU to throttle down to protect itself from overheating. I think it's been *mostly* resolved in the current 5K iMacs but it could still be a factor. See what happens if you turn OpenCL off for exporting.
I ran into this when testing a PC video card in my Mac Pro. Not sure if thermal throttling is the issue, but the symptoms are the same. Fast start then gets slower and slower. If I turn OpenCL off then it proceeds at a consistent rate, though slower than it would be if the GPU was able to process all the photos at the starting speed.

Turning off OpenCL for processing seemed to help a bit on the overall speed, but once it gets to about 100 photos it slows back to a crawl. It now only takes about 5 minutes to process out a couple of hundred photos, taking 2 or 3 seconds to processes each one. I might try to wait 15 minutes and see if the computer "cools down" and see if that helps the speed.
I wonder why Phase 1 even keeps that OpenCL around; every time I hear about a problem on here someone is recommending to turn that off.0 -
