    Older versions didn't require proofing to be on to see the watermark because a watermark isn't really something to be proofed per se.  Its size would be based on your selected output recipe however.

    Catalogs over about 40,000 photos start to bog down pretty quick in Capture One Pro 11 and earlier. Sounds like that's still the case, and I bet that's the crux of your problem.
