Understanding ProStandard profiles

ProStandard profiles are a new generation of camera profiles designed to deliver more natural and consistent color rendering across different camera models. They are particularly beneficial for portrait and product photography, where accurate color reproduction is crucial.

Key features of ProStandard profiles

1. Natural color transitions: ProStandard profiles provide better preservation of color across contrast gradients, resulting in more natural colors from shadows to highlights.

2. Improved hue transition: They offer better transition between colors of different hues, which is especially important for skin tones and saturated colors.

3. Standardized colors across cameras: These profiles aim to provide more standardized colors across different camera models, making it easier for photographers using multiple cameras to achieve consistent results.

Compatiblity

ProStandard profiles are available starting from Capture One 21 (14.0.0) and have been set as the default profile for all supported cameras in Capture One Pro (16.3.4), ensuring a better first-time experience and allowing users to fully utilize the potential of Capture One. How to use ProStandard profiles

1. Selecting the profile:

   • Navigate to the Base Characteristics tool in the Color tool tab.

   • From the ICC Profile drop-down menu, select the appropriate ProStandard profile for your camera.

2. Setting as default:

   • Click on the Action menu (three dots) icon in the Base Characteristics tool.

   • Choose Save as Defaults for [your camera model] to make ProStandard the default profile for future sessions.
