Negative Film Scanning Setup
In this tutorial, we’ll go through the equipment needed, camera considerations, workflow, and general recommendations to convert your negatives into digital images.
Scanning Film with a Tethered Camera
Get started with converting your negative film by capturing with a tethered camera.
In this tutorial, we will cover everything you need to know to scan your film with a tethered camera.
Creating an LCC Profile
LCC profiles are custom profiles that equalize the lens and light source to ensure perfect evenness in terms of illumination and color.
Negative Film Conversion
Now that you have scanned your film, let’s go through the steps needed to convert it and bring it to life in Capture One.
Advanced Conversion and Problem Solving
Let's look more closely at problems you might encounter when converting negative film and how to fix them. Correct color casts using the Color Balance tool.
Please note - Since recording this tutorial we have added a further option in the Curves tool, to aid the removal of color casts.
Use the Pick Neutralize Point Cursor Tool and click a point in your image that should be neutral, and we’ll match the Red, Green, and Blue values to the L (luminance) value. For the most reliable result, sample a neutral midtone and avoid the brightest highlights and deepest shadows.
More information on the curves tool can be found here.
