Option+Drag in finder changed white balance settings

I have a weird problem that I'm hoping one of you can help me with. I received a hard drive from a client with CR3s on it. In finder (Mac High Sierra) I selected the images I needed and option+dragged the images onto my server. When I opened the images on my server in C1 the white balance settings were slightly different from when I opened the images in C1 from the hard drive. What's going on here? Why did this happen and what can I do to prevent it from happening in the future?
