    Hello Bart,

Do you see the "open with" plugin in your preferences ? Something like this (sorry, my screen is in Dutch as this is my native language) :
No error message over there ?
You could also open a case with C1 for this if it's really the Open With Plugin that gives errors.

The "reset default applications in windows" solution is more if you choose "Edit With" and nothing happens after that. Like, edit with photoshop and you will see that C1 creates a PSD file but Photoshop does not start automatically. Then the solution could be doing a reset of the list of default apps in Windows. But if your Open With plugin is not enabled or working, I suggest you open a case for support.

    Kind regards,
    Koen

    Beste Koen,

Thanks for your comment. Yes, the "open with" plugin is in the preference panel, but is says "Plugin is disabled."and it is greyed out.

BTW, things are getting worse. I desperately tried a new installation. And now the program even doesn't start up. It crashes and after that the desktop shortcut disapears, as well as the  executable file from the Capture One folder.

    Hartelijke groet,

    Bart

    Hallo Bart,

I did a quick search on the net about disabled "open with" plugin but could not find anything...
So for the moment I only have two suggestions for you : reinstall C1 completely and/or open a case for support.

Have you uninstalled your express version ? Maybe C1 pro has a problem because your express version is also installed ? Don't know if you can have both versions running on the same machine.

    Kind regards,
    Groetjes uit België,

    Koen

    Hallo Koen,

Yes, I uninstalled the express version (regretfully). I will try to contact support. Thanks for your help.

    Kind regard,

    Bart

I've also been having the same issue.

In the past when this happened I would have gone into the plug-ins menu and re-enabled the plug-in. with the latest update the plug-ins menu has changed and no longer allows me to re-enable the plug-in.

As a note: I have been using pro for over a decade and have had this issue on and off for ages but this latest update seems super buggy. Especially on PC. I had the same issue after updating where the app would crash and disappear, tried re-installing multiple times, and ultimately had to uninstall and delete all library and background file on the HDD and then install the previous version just to get the app to run. It's mildly better on my Mac, but not by a lot.

    Sounds familiar, Ryan.

However, it all works fine now. I think restarting after an update, before opening CO, was the solution.

So I kept getting this problem with Capture one 22 and now even worse in 23. I have tried everything with limited success. Sometime re-installing the program worked, but then randomly started again.

I have found by going into PROGRAM FILES, Capture One, Plugins, Open With. Look down the list and delete all the files below the folders (DLL’s). You will need administrator rights to do this. Once deleted, re-instal Capture one. I found this worked first time (oddly the file date was still the same as the original instal date). I will see if the problem arises in the future but at least I know it works.

August 2024, I close Capture One, open Photoshop, and then re open Capture One and the plugin is available again.
