Masked Layer From Selection

Is anyone else able to create a masked layer from selection using the advanced color editor? It doesn't seem to be working anymore....

Within the advanced Color Editor:
Make color selection using the picker
Move smoothness to 30
Click "Create masked layer from selection"
(for me) New layer is created, but the mask is simply a filled mask.

    It works as normal for me.

    Before you create the layer, if you check the box to View Selected Colour Range, is it selecting just the colours you thought it would? Do you really need to put the smoothness all the way up to 30? What if you use a lower value?

    I created a new/separate layer for making the selection which seemed to fix the issue.

    If it doesn't work from the background layer then I assume this is a regression defect, it works in the Windows version of 15.2.

    Thank you again. I'm not sure what was going on, must have been user error on my part. By the way, It's great when the forums prove useful.
