Best workflow for digital tech to make selects adjustment while photographer contiunes to shoots tethered with large preview.

I'm looking for a workflow that would allow a tech to make selections (stars) and change names of images while the photographer continues shooting tethered with a large preview. 

Using one session I can't scroll back in the shoot with out taking away the next capture preview for the photographer.

I also experimented using multiple sessions. One for capture and another for editing. The editing/selecting session is pointed to the capture folder from the first session, so both sessions are looking at the same raw files. It seemed to work at first, allowing me to browse and edit in one session while the photographer continued shooting in the other. But it was a little buggy as far as the stars showing up properly in both sessions. 

If anyone had any tips on the best approach for this workflow one session or two, it would be greatly appreciated!
