Sync Metadata – faster when deselecting images?
When I select a large amount of images and run Sync Metadata, the process runs much faster if I deselect the images after starting synchronization. I'm curious why this is. Does anyone have an idea?

Are you sure that xmp is synced for all initially selected images?

Usually when I synchronize metadata, most of the xmp files of the selected images are already up to date, it's only a few of them that aren't. Would this make a difference? You should think that the synchronization process would be the same regardless of whether or not the images in question remain selected after the process has started.

Maybe not all images are syncronized if you change the selection. Can you eventually recognize by looking at the modified date of the xmp file (how many have changed when not changing the selection. vs. how many have changed when removing the selection).

My impression is that all images initially selected are synchronized. The Activities bar shows the same amount of images being synchronized also when I deselect all images initially selected; the only thing that changes is the speed.

Good catch. I do not have an explanation.

Yes. I have exactly the same experience.
I had a conversation with Tech Support (Victor) about it back in April, and my impression was that it was not going to be treated as a defect
FWIW, once you DO deselect all, bulk Sync or Load metadata is MUCH faster for me at least in C1 than in Lightroom....

I had the same issue with the Load Metadata option. I asked support about it some months ago, but never got an actual answer to the question.
