Perhaps give us a bit more information? What method are you using to copy and paste the adjustment? Is the curves adjustment on a layer or on the background?

Adding onto Ian’s questions, do you have curve deselected on the adjustments clipboard tool? (Adjustments clipboard lives on the Styles tab at the bottom in the default workspace.)

Thanks Ian and Brian. I first just noticed this problem with straight copy apply operations. Then I went to the adjustment clipboard to check that the curves showed up there. I use the clipboard to apply it. Same issue. I’ve no idea what I’m missing. On my laptop the problem doesn’t occur. There’s no difference that I know of in the way I use the program on the two devices.

So to be absolutely clear what is (or is not) happening...

TO tray and diagnose the issue, what happens if you do this?

    • You have two images, say A and B.
    • Select both, with A as the primary one (with a thick border).
    • On A, adjust the curve (let's assume the Luma curve) perhaps to give contrast with an S-shaped curve - do it with a very large amount of adjustment so that it is easily spotted whether it has had an effect.
    • Click the double-headed arrow on the curve tool, which bring up a dialog box showing what you want to copy.
    • Make sure the curve check box is ticked.
    • Click the Apply button.

What should happen is that the appearance of B will obviously change, gaining the S-curve and resulting contrast boost that A had.

    So

    1. If you do that, does B change or not?
    2. If not, if you do exactly the same but with a different tool, perhaps pulling the saturation slider on the Exposure tool right down to give Image A a black and white result, then using the double arrow on the Exposure tool, does B go black-and-white too?

I appreciate that in practice you may be wanting to copy a number of adjustments at once, but I'm trying to isolate what happens with the Curves tool.
