Process Film Negatives
What problem do you see this solving?
I shoot film as it's still relevant, and currently making a resurgence. There is a market for film processing apps, which perform a fraction of the image processing that CaptureOne has in it's toolbox, but companies are charging almost as much as a perpetual CO license (when found on sale).
When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?
Today.
Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?
Yes, inverting the levels. CaptureOne technically has the ability to do this, but it's annoying and obviously not an official feature. If you reverse the levels it's like you've processed a negative. However, some of the other tools then work in reverse. It's annoying. CO could be sold as a first class film image processor if it contained the ability to select Negative Film as a Base Characteristic, then all of the tools work as normal. Internally the levels would invert the image, but otherwise all of the tools would be remapped to the correct functionality as if the image were a color positive. You could then compete in the film space as a first class software package that supports this.
Are you happy to be contacted further about this suggestion or request?
Yes
