Identify the point of focus for each image
What problem do you see this solving?
My request is not to solve a problem, but rather to make a valuable enhancement to Capture One. I would like to have a tool that with a click of a button would show me the point where I focused when I took each image. This would function differently from the focus mask that already exists.
When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?
This focus point tool would be very useful when I am focus stacking a large stack of macro images. It would allow me to see the exact point of focus for each image in the stack, so I can decide if I want to include or exclude each image in the stack. Before I started using Capture One, I was an avid user of Apple's Aperture photo editing software. I used the focus point tool in Aperture quite a lot and really enjoyed it. I also found that the focus point tool helped me improve my skills as a photographer. Sitting in front of my computer screen, in the peace and quite of my photo studio, I was able to learn the relationship between focus point, f stop and depth of field for each type lens I used, and subject I photographed. I also used it to help fine tune the auto focus for each of my lens and camera body combinations.
Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?
I have tried to use the focus mask tool, but it just doesn't work for me. So now I have to carefully scrutinize each image to try to figure out the point of perfect focus. This takes lots of time and concentration.

Yes! Many cameras provide this information. Let us see it when we want to.

In LR, there are plugins to show the focus point. That should also be possible in C1.

As Doug, I also think this tool would be very useful. I came across this post by searching on google how to find my focus point in Capture one. Why would I need it?
recently my camera Canon R5C went to the tech service because I was experimenting issues with the behavior of focus. I did a portrait photo test and I was now trying to see the exact point of my focus. While in the service, I saw that canon has a tool that shows exactly where the focus point is on camera. I believe also show the type of focus point used.
Well, I would be awesome to have that tool, also for many people practicing his skills with focus while reframing before pressing the shutter.Kind regards,

Walter Rowe, I thought there was an "improve this forum" thread to bundle similar requests?
Like this one: Zoom to camera's focus point
But I admit, I was too lazy to read through 117 threads containing "AF-point", especially in this lousy forum software.
Back to topic: I also support the possibility to switch on AF-points used to focus and agree with the thread opener about the focus mask tool which to me is rather useless, usually it also shows clearly blurred areas, not matter how high or low the offset is adjusted. Maybe it's more useful for tethered shooting, but to check images for focus with this function is a waste of time and effort.

Agreed. For Nikon cameras, this is clearly in the metadata as their own software can show it. We just need C1 to include it and let us visualize the focus point.
