screen resolution
I just upgraded from a 2021 iMac 24" to a MacMini w Studio Display. I know Cap 1 resolution for Previews should be 5120 x 2880, however, the default resolution for my Studio Display shows 2560 x 1440. I'm almost 81, I can't work with my screen set to 5120 x 2880. Am I confusing preview resolution with working screen resolution. Thank you, Marc

Hi Marc Santacroce,
Cap 1 setting:
The Cap 1 preview size should be the same as your monitor resolution, or one step higher. If your monitor resolution is 2560 x 1440 then set the preview size to 2560 or 2880 in the preference dialog.
But actually, the preview size is only relevant for performance / speed in Cap 1 in the viewer component at small to medium zoom levels, and you can set a smaller or higher preview size, it does not matter so much if your MacMini feels speedy enough you can even set 640.
It has nothing to do with the capabilities of your eyes or the actual native or configured monitor resolution, only viewer speed.
Monitor setting:
Ideally, your monitor resolution would be set to its 'native' resolution (2560 x 1440) if you can see the user interface of C1 big enough. I am not a Mac guy but I think you can set it to a lower value, or somehow change a setting to magnify all applications, fonts etc. at Mac system level, if your have problems with the size of the user interface (menus, tool's captions etc).

There is certainly no advantage in setting the preview size to 5120 if your monitor is 2560. There is nothing that says Capture One previews "should" be 5160 - only if your monitor has that kind of resolution. My iMac has a 5120 x 2880 display, and my previews are set to 5120 on that computer. On the other hand my MacBook has a 2560 x 1600 display, and the previews are set to 2880. I am using the recommended setting on each. I know there are arguments about how necessary it is, but I'd stick with what is recommended for your machine unless you have a good reason to do otherwise. If you already have previews that are 5120, and you set your default to 2880, then regenerating them would save some space.
