Hello Christian Louw Pedersen and thanks for the feedback! We will be improving the in app camera functionality and we would like to know how and why photographers are using it, so that we make the right improvements.

With that in mind, can you share a bit of context on how and why you are using the in app camera? Why would you use the one provided in Capture One mobile comparing to the native? How important is using this functionality for your workflow?

    Hi Evi K

Thank you for your reply, and thank you for promising C1mobile in-app iPhone camera functionality. You are asking me how and why I am using the C1mobile in-app iPhone camera functions. The short answer is: I don’t, and I won’t.

    Here comes the long answer:

It seems to me that you only offer one advantage for using your iPhone app to take photos with the iPhone camera, and that is your iPhone ProStandard profiles. But your iPhone ProStandard profiles only apply to ProRAWs shot with your own app, which is a limitation, not an advantage.

To be fair you actually offer one more advantage, and that is to be able to save the photo as a file, and not inside the library of the native Photos app. I appreciate this approach.

You do however offer several disadvantages, and I will mention some of them:

No manual focus mode available, no manual exposure mode available, no white balance choices, no in-app ability to change format and resolution, no timer, no level, no grid, no histogram, only two of the four lenses (on my iPhone) are available for shooting, no visible value for exposure adjustment, no reset button for exposure adjustment, no in-app options for portrait mode on/off, no in-app iPhone camera settings menu, …

If I am wrong, I do apologize.

For now I prefer to use ANY other app for shooting with the iPhone camera, even knowing that by doing so I won’t be able to take advantage of your ProStandard profiles for the iPhone camera.

Regarding the present functionality of this specific part of your mobile app (taking photos with the iPhone camera), I assume that ANY photographer would feel severely restricted by using it for this purpose.

(I would like to mention that I love Capture One Pro. This is indeed a very professional, elegant, efficient, versatile and mature product.)

Thank you Christian Louw Pedersen for the elaborate response. I am trying to validate how important ProStandard profiles are for photographers like you and how critical it is to provide more camera controls. You covered both aspects quite well. Can you share with me how and when you would use the iPhone camera comparing with your "real" camera? how important is it for you and what type of photography are you into?

Thank you for your reply Evi K

After evaluating pros and cons I have come to a decision.

    1) I have removed access to my iPhone camera in the system preferences for your app, because of all your camera control restrictions. You have provided less controls than the native camera app offers, much less. More is far away.

    2) I won’t share my preferences for choice of camera in this reply, because it would be out of topic.

    3) same goes for my preferred type of photography, also out of topic.

And I cannot rate my creative decisions and photographic preferences based on importance.

    Sorry.

Hello, can you elaborate on this? What do you mean by "in my gallery live photos are not working"?

(Edit: solved) Jack W Evi K Sorry to disturb, but I couldn't find a way to flag the most recent comment from FirstName LastName in this post. The link at the start of the comment is definitely off topic.
