What problem do you see this solving?
Our monitors are wider than they are tall, which means one ends up doing an awful lot of scrolling when editing due to there being too many tools in the current context to fit in view. It is more to have them in view than to scroll/switch tabs.
It would be nice to have two columns to dock tools in, either side by side on opposite sides of the screen.

Moving all the tools to the pinned area causes them to auto-collapse, but then the layers and brush panels also auto collapse, which makes working very clumsy. Moving the brushes and layers to the pinned area then stops the auto-collapse behaviour, which then results in an awful lot of scrolling.

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?
Every day.

Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?
Painstakingly arranging floating tool panels, which is a bit rubbish as they then obscure parts of the grid view.

    I tried it, but mapping my graphics tablet to toggle from one screen to dual and back again was unpleasant, especially given the aching expanse of grey that typically flanks the images in the centre view that could be filled with another column of docked tools ;)

    I upvoted this request. 

    Meanwhile, as we are waiting for an implementation, did you try to place your most commonly used tools as  floating tools outside the C1 window? You cannot switch them (no tabs) and you cannot hide them to give your image nearly full screen, but you have even more vertical space availabe outside the C1 window.

    I tried, but as I work with a pen mapped to monitor 1, placing tools on monitor 2 meant some Wacom shenanigans that I found more cumbersome than scrolling the tool palettes.

    Ahh, I missed that you'd resized C1 to stop them covering up the preview!!
