Hardware Acceleration on Apple M3 not working

    I did another experiment. I opened Activity Monitor from macOS and drove crazy with the brightness control to simulate maximum usage.

    There was indeed a difference in terms of statistics. With hardware acceleration turned on the statistics changed.

    CPU 350% -> 100%
    GPI 0,5% -> 27%

    But still it is not quicker with hardware acceleration enabled and not really quicker as with a device that is 8 years older

    But it was very slow. I also tested darktable, which is said to be very slow. On my machine the results are comparable. (it is hard to compare them directly). It is taking over 500% CPU as well as 20% GPU.
