Copy and applying UN crop to an image

I can't seem to get the "copy and apply adjustments" to work properly for me.

I understand the default is set to NOT apply crop to a copy / apply adjustments (ie using the double ended arrow). To fix that you need to go in to the Adjustments Clipboard and change the default to Autoselect > Adjusted. If I then copy and paste from one image with a crop, to another this works but (for me) if I then remove the crop and copy and paste all adjustments to another image it adjusts everything..... except the crop (so it keeps the crop on all the adjusted images, maybe seeing an uncropped image as not adjusted......?). It's very frustrating!
What's the solution here?
