Name Variants esp. for exports
What problem do you see this solving?
I am exporting an automatic collections of my favourite photos on a regular basis by overwriting images in the export folder. However, if I have variants of the an image, C1 overwrites all variants incl the image itself with the last variant in C1. To bypass this I would need to add suffixes which lead to having tons of same pictures with differents names...
My suggestion is to add some suffix to variants at all times when exporting like a, b, c or something like this. Or to get the option to name variants different in C1 than the original. 1st would be my favourite.
When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?
Whenever I am exporting my automatic collections to update my locally stored image gallery.
Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?
I am manually renaming the variants I want to keep before exporting that they dont get overwritten.
Are you happy to be contacted further about this suggestion or request?

Export Location tool -> Existing Files -> choose something else than "Overwrite". If does not work and files are still overwritten, report a bug.

I do this too. The trick is to add a token to the exported filename and choosing overwrite.
- Export Naming -> Format -> <put in your Naming conventions>_v<choose token "position of variant">
- Export Location tool -> Existing Files -> "overwrite"
Result for Variant 1 and Variant 2: Filename_v1, Filename_v2
And every time you export the same files after making some improvements each image variant gets overwritten by the same new one -> as long as you don`t change the order of the variants.
This is what mine looks like:
