Renaming or deleting files takes ages

Anyone experiencing the same issue I have, renaming or delating files takes ages. The batch renaming of 1900 takes crazy 3 hours... Any thoughts on this?

Running:

Capture 16.3.4.5

Mac Studio Apple M1 Ultra 64GB Sonoma 14.2.1

    In my experience

    1. batch renaming goes much quicker in a session than in a catalog.
    2. if there are a large number of images to rename, it may be quicker to split them into batches - so instead of doing 1900 all in one go, doing it say 300 at a time may actually be faster.

    Yeah, there are problems with the catalog on external storage (which is super fast). I haven't had these issues earlier at all, but since the latest updates on C1 suddenly everything slows down...
