Sync ipad and iPhone mobile

I find the lack of synchronization between iPad and iPhone to be problematic and in opposition to the whole cloud protocol. It seems to me that the concept of the cloud means that images are available on all devices. Perhaps I captured images on my iPhone in the field and wish to do some editing on my iPod I in the motel or on the plane going home. I find the lack of this capability to be a negative when compared, for example, to Adobe’s approach.
