Folders need Folder variants, not just Photo Variants
What problem do you see this solving?
Using photo variants is a pain in the ass for workflows involving revising entire albums/folders. It's difficult to re-select all variants. Sometimes, I want to have a color and black and white version of a photo, but then later on I come back and want to re-do the entire photo album's color process without deleting the black and white variant I made for that single photo. And I need to be able to organize cropped variants of the same image without ruining the variant positions.
I need album and folder variants. Period. When I go to a folder, that folder should itself be considered an album, not just a folder. For organization purposes, you should also allow people to create multiple sub-albums within a folder. Albums need to be contextualized within the scope of a folder. Albums should not be a separate list in and of themselves. Maybe some albums can be, but that should not be the only way to organize albums.
When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?
This is a huge problem that involves non-working work-arounds.
Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?
Any attempt to use work-arounds for this inevitably results in problems. I've thought about creating entirely separate sessions to store separate edits of the same album, but this does not work well. I would have to remember which albums to look in. This option removes the convenience of using Capture One to browse the image previews. I need everything under one roof.
