Why was I upgraded to CO 2024?

I don't know the answers to your all questions. But I suspect that Fastspring who do the selling for Capture One may have had your payment details from last time, when you took out the subscription.

Also, this is not an "upgrade to Capture One 2024" - there is no such product. But if you had a subscription, and paid for a year, then after the year was completed (presumably it was 26 February 2023 - 25 February 2024) you would either have to renew your subscription for another year, or lose the ability to use Capture One. That is the nature of a subscription rather than a perpetual licence. But with a subscription you always have access to all the latest version whereas with a perpetual licence you are stuck with the version you bought (though you do get bug fix minor updates).

If what has happened is not what you expected or what you wanted, I suggest using the email address shown on the receipt (ordersupport@captureone.zendesk.com

Ian! Hi thanks for your input. The thing which confuses and will upset me immeasurably is, as mentioned above, the CO1 website shows no payment information, so how can I be charged? And who would charge me when it is clearly shown you have no possession of my payment details. IF FastSpring however deployed saved payment info, without that info being shown on the page displayed below, I'd have to think that's some shoddy biz practice, wouldn't you agree?

I have no need nor desire for the product, nor do I wish to be charged for same, overtly or covertly.

So help me dig down and solve this mystery Ian. Your assistance is deeply appreciated.

    Hi Michael

    (1) Payment details - I meant that the reason why there were none on the Capture One website might be that it's Fastspring who hold them not Capture One.

    (2) You say you neither no need nor desire for the product. But the point is that this is not a new product, it's just another year's extension to your subscription. If you choose not to subscribe for another year, you won't have any Capture One at all. It will stop working.

Ian: the point being that Capture One should be filling that Payment Methods field with anything which grants them access to my money. So: if FastSpring holds my payment information at the direction of Capture One, but Capture One does not expose that in the above mentioned field, I find that extremely shady. Especially that with the field shown as empty, the only option besides exiting the form is to ADD payments details. Should ANY entity be holding payment details for me, those details should be clearly exposed to me.

Additionally, on my single Orders page, there is no mention anywhere of any subscription, which logically should be shown there. Why not?

I have finally found the subscription link. Now's a good time to follow along, because Ian, this is another sort of sticky point which needs some clarification:

When one clicks on the appropriate 'Manage subscription' link, that brings one here:

And what I find disingenuous is that subscription is NOT listed under my orders. As you can see, there's only that one page of orders.

I don't think Capture One makes this easy nor transparent. A that's a big fail for me right there.

I'm just gonna refresh us all on that initial screen cap above from FastSpring's page to me, nowhere on which does it show a payment detail like my card number or PayPal account number or any such useful information, so how do I track down WHERE they charged it to?

So this is not quite clear.

Just above where it says Plan overview does it show a subscription like this? (my current state).

or does it show Perpetual licence like this? (My earlier state, as listed on my account page.)
