The brighter image shows the shutter speed as 4s, ISO as 50 and aperture as f/11. What does it show for the darker image?

Well for whatever reason, although the ISO and aperture are the same, the shutter speed in this version is only 0.5s but in the bright version it is 4s, so that is 3EV different. Is it set to a fixed amount, or on some auto setting? Is it possible that some exposure compensation was added by mistake?

And if you reduce the exposure in the bright version by 3EV, does that recover the highlights in the shoe, or are they too blown out?

    Hey Ian,

yes it is the same shot/framing but with different exposures. That is no mistake by the camera. I did that.

But I do not understand why Capture One displays some images completely distorted. If I check the folder on my computer with the original file it looks normal. The images above are the same images but just with different exposures. The framing is identical but if you compare both in capture one they look completely different. The brighter one is oblique.

Well, looking at the thumbnails, the bright one seems to have the keystone control at an odd setting. If you go to that shot and reset the keystone tool, does that put it right?

Wow Ian - thank you. That's it. I changed it and it works although I still don't understand that when I did 7 exposures and did not change the position of the camera or any other setting why it shows 1 image normal then 1 distorted and then 2 normal and then 1 distorted again. But let's see if it is coming up again in the near future...
