Capture One 20 only supports up to MacOS Big Sur 11.1, so you are several versions of MacOS beyond what Capture One 20 supports.

You may or may not find that it works for you on your system with a later version of MacOS, but there is no guarantee that it will be problem free, or even that it will work at all.

Also there has been a problem with exports under Sonoma being saved as hidden files. Generally the problem was when the file was saved to an iCloud folder or one that synced to iCloud. The Capture One update of version 23 to 16.2.6 included a bug fix for this, as did release 16.3.1 for Capture One Pro (the latest version).

Thanks Ian that makes sense. Workaround: I tried opening the session on an older machine that has same Cap One 20 version but is running High Sierra. Annoyingly it won't let me open the session and says the session is open (by me) elsewhere. The same problem occurs regardless of whether the session is currently open on the other, newer machine or not.

Does that make sense to you?

Do you really mean a session? Or is it a catalog?

    If it's actually a catalog

    • make sure that it isn't open on the newer machine.
    • right click the catalog in Finder and choose Show Package Contents.
    • If you see a filed called Writelock, delete it.

    Now try again.

(The Writelock file is created by Capture One when a catalog is opened. Its purpose is to prevent the catalog being opened by two users at the same time. When you close a catalog, the Writelock file should be automatically deleted. But if for some reason Capture One doesn't shut down cleanly - for instance if there is a crash - it may not be deleted and you might have to delete it manually.)
