Capture One no longer starts
Hello everyone,
Perhaps someone has already had this problem.
Capture One froze in the middle of an editing session and has not been able to be started since, the message "The program could not be initialized." always appears. Restarting the program, restarting the PC (Windows 10, uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version didn't help either. Always the same message.
My license key is from 2019 if that matters.
Can you help me, support has not yet responded.
Many thanks and best regards

Last time I had problems, support got me to set up a new user account and run capture one from there. Helps isolate where the problem is.

I have the same problem with C1 16.3.8 and a Windows 11 PC. C1 has become increasingly sluggish, graphics card fans were running at full speed. This often happened with older versions, but has rarely been the case since version 16.3.2. I closed C1 before it came to a complete stop to avoid damaging the database. After that, a restart was no longer possible.
I tried to open another catalog and a session by double-clicking in Explorer, also without success. Reinstalling the C++ redistributables and C1 was also unsuccessful. I then reinstalled version 16.3.2 and everything is running smoothly.0 -
As an addition: No window opens when restarting. C1 only appears for approx. one second in the key manager before it is closed without an error message.

Make sure you are running a compatible version of Windows and make sure your graphics drivers are current. I have also read of bad experiences with game drivers vs studio drivers for graphics cards. Game drivers tend to be more bleeding edge and could have bugs. Studio / Creative drivers tend to be more stable and well tested.

Could some anti-malware / anti-virus software be getting in the way? Can you check their logs?

I'm using the latest studio drivers. Windows 11 should also be a compatible version.
Has anything changed with V16.3.8 that a virus scanner could be sensitive to? As described above, C1 could be started once (but only once).
Where can I find the C1 log files?
I have not yet dealt with the Windows reporting tools. So far, everything has always run smoothly. I wouldn't know what to look for there either.

I believe there was something higher in this thread or in another thread where someone found that a service or library was being blocked by an A/V or malware tool. I cannot remember what it was. Once they marked that it was safe their problem went away.
