Get rid of xmp files?
Hi,
I have old C1 catalogues that were used to generate XMP files. Today I only use catalogues where all settings are written to the catalogue file itself, i.e. without XMP files. How can I import the old catalogues into the new ones in such a way that the XMP settings of the old files are written into the new catalogue so that I can delete the XMPs?

The XMP files are not used by the catalog unless you have metadata syncing enabled. Regardless the catalog database is always considered the source of truth. If your catalogs have accurate metadata then you can delete the XMP files without worry. Make sure metadata sync is turned off in app preferences.

Walter,
thank you. Does that mean that in this very moment, when I turn off metadata sync, all what is stored in the sidecars would be transferred to the catalog file?

Even with metadata sync turned on the catalog is filtering, etc, is based on what is in the catalog database.
The XMP files are never consulted in real time except to read/write metadata. First step I recommend is turning off metadata sync and see how things go. If all looks good after a few days / weeks then remove the XMP files.

Thank you! I will do it in this way.
