Migrating catalogue to Lightroom
Hi,
Does anybody know a tool to migrate the catalogue to Lightroom without too much loss? As there are no plans of syncing pictures from PC to a mobile device, I would at least like to do the rating in Lightroom, so that I can use the time when travelling. (No, the "live" catalogues do not help, there's no internet on the plane and in the underground...)
Best

On a macOS system there is an unorthodox and unsupported way. You would pull the catalog off the iPad via Finder, import the images into that catalog, and shove the catalog back onto the iPad. When you return home you would again pull the catalog off the iPad.
You then could import that catalog into your desktop catalog, OR open the iPad catalog with the desktop app and export the images with their ratings (Export > Originals, Include Adjustments) to a folder in a Session.
Again .. totally unsupported and totally unorthodox. It may or may not work at any given time.
Don't know if there is a way to do that on a PC (Windows).

Thanks Walter - but that does seem a bit brute force, and anyway I am on Windows. When I recently installed Lightroom, it worked like magic - the picture previews were syncing from the computer to the cloud, I could rate them on the iPad, and when I came home I could filter for stars.
But maybe I do not even need to sync the catalogue - can I make C1 pick up the ratings from the XMP files?

Have you had a look at Cyme's Avalanche?

Are you seeking to move images back and forth between Capture One and Lightroom so you can use LR Mobile, or switch to Lightroom entirely because it has complete integration between Mobile and Desktop?
At one time Capture One publicly stated they were developing enhancements to their cloud capabilities to give us bi-directional syncing between mobile and desktop platforms. For reasons unknown they have paused work effort. Hopefully they will pick it up again. From their description it would have provided the features you want.
