Capture One is ALWAYS soft proofing. When you are editing you are editing under the view of the proof profile.

Go to View > Proof Profile to change which profile is being used while editing.

The default is the ICC profile associated with the selected recipe from the Export Recipes tool. You can override that to be a specific ICC profile.

Adobe has this "concept" of a "working color space" for editing. That is why you have a separate "Soft Proof" functionality in Adobe products. Capture One is always soft proofing so you don't need a special mode for it.

....but only if you explicitly press the corresponding button (glasses), you ‘see’ how your print will possibly look.

For me it is quite confusing (or even illogical) to have two different views of the same image with the same ICC profile.....

Not entirely true. Recipe Proofing applies all the adjustments including sharpening that are not shown in the normal viewer unless you are at 100% zoom. Viewer is still soft proofing all the time with respect to ICC profile.
