New Ipad 10.9 not connecting at all to nikon d850

I have a strange one , brand new ipad wont't connect to my nikon d850 via tether cable , but connects instantly to my pc , same cable no different camera settings.I am assuming I connect my usb-c tether cable directly into my usb-c into my new ipad...someone please help ..
