Are you on Windows or macOS? What app are you using to view the exported JPEG?

I'm on Windows 11, sorry, I should have mentioned that. I have viewed the exported JPEGs with several programs: Photoshop, ACDSee and Windows Image Viewer. They look the same in these programs, but different in Capture One. As previously mentioned, I get the exact same contrast and colors when exporting to JPEG Quickproof, but that option produces various artefacts, and is too limited anyway.

Can you confirm the color profile in your export settings? sRGB color profile? JPEG, 8-bits?

I figured out the problem. I mostly work in "fit view", so I can view the whole image at once. This view was what I compared with my exported files. However, when I zoom in to 100 % in Capture One, I get the very same color and contrast on screen as in my exports. In other words, when an image is zoomed out Capture One sometimes oversaturates and amplifies contrast horrribly, probably due to downsampling or something like that. It seems to happen mostly in green/yellow areas.

What made me think of this was this post. Everyone discussing the issue use Fujifilm cameras. So do I, so this might be more prevalent with these cameras.

This also explains why JPEG Quickproof produced the same result as my preview in Capture One, since these files are rendered at a relatively small size.

Sadly not a very satisfying solution, since not being able to see what you're exactly doing kind of negates the whole idea of RAW editing. Fortunately, it doesn't happen with all images.

    • I've tested all available color settings in C1 (in Preferences > Images and Color), and it doesn't seem to be anything to do about this. As established above, the problem is not in the exporting, but only that C1 boosts color and contrast when previewing the image below 100 %, mainly for green and yellow.

Does anyone possibly know how you can set the colors for the preview to be consistent between zoom levels?

The only tips I've seen about this is to "preview the image at 100 %". But it isn't possible to edit a RAW file like that. And temporarily zooming in "just to check" doesn't help much either, since you have to view the whole image to see the color/contrast changes in their context.

I'm just in the process in switching from Camera RAW, since I've found C1 to do so many things so much better. I certainly hope that this won't be the dealbreaker.

I've attached to an example here. They are details from an image. The left one is how it looks like when I view the image in full screen in C1 (in other words, zoomed out, the image I see while editing), and the right one is how it looks like in 100 %, and in the export (in other words, these are the actual colors of the image).
