You don't say under what circumstances, CO version or system you are using. With that said I am running CO 16.3.1.23 on a Mac running OS 12.7.5 and have had similar problems in the past. It usually occurs after an OS update or after a restart that took place while CO was active. After such OS restarts CO frequently fails to populate the "Edit With" portion of the Plug Ins drop down list. The for me the problem however disappears after a CO restart.

I can only speak to my experience with the setup I described earlier. So, before the second restart of CO if I went to CO > Preferences > Plugins the Open With Menu selection was greyed and the usual drop down menu of executable files was blank. This also prevented me from using the "get more plugins" selection to find my usual executable files. After there second restart of CO I revisited the CO > Preferences > Plugins and the drop down list was repopulated and I could select or delete executable files at will. To reiterate, the above solved a problem that occurred after a Mac OS system crash or an OS update that required a restart while CO was open but not necessarily in use.

Ok, after three days of struggling I found out the solution. In order to populate the plugin list you have to go to

File explorer and find one of your JPG's. Then right click and scroll to Open with. Then click on find application or your PC. Then you click the executable file. Then go back to your open with applications and open with that applications. That will populate the plugin list.

Also this is how you can get the round tripping with photoshop. That is how you fix the link that breaks sometimes when PS or C1 is updated.

Yes this makes sense. The OS has not associated the file type with the specific applications. This sometimes happens when Adobe updates. Unfortunately C1 becomes the victim of this.

It has been discussed a few times in a Facebook group called Capture One Technical Forum.
