Can I set crop ratio to default to unconstrained?
I use capture one to process bird photos, and each bird photo needs to be cropped its own way. Is there a way to set the default aspect ratio to be unconstrained?
I guess when one crops, one most normally wants to choose precisely how... is there a way to set unconstrained as default?

Yes.
Go to Capture One settings and find the crop section. Change the Aspect ratio behaviour from Variant to Global.
The effect of this is that if you change the aspect ratio when you crop one image to Unconstrained, it will stay on Unconstrained for each subsequent image until you change it again.
(Use Variant aspect ratio on the other hand means that if you set Unconstrained on the first image, and then change to another image, it will change back to whatever is the currently set ratio on that second image.)

EDITED TO ADD: you need release 15.3 or later of Capture One 22 to get this feature.
