DaVinci Plugin development, why?
I received an email from CaptureOne today, asking me to beta test a DaVinci plugin that they are currently working on:
https://www.captureone.com/en/campaign/da-vinci-sign-up
Why is this being worked on instead of focusing their precious resources on features that most users actually asked for? What is the point of having a feature request list ranked by hundreds of votes when this particular request is back on page 20 with single-digit votes? Essentially, no one cares about this feature. And of course, it will be absolutely useless for users who don't use DaVinci or don't care about video features at all.
Jack W, can we get an official response from CaptureOne on this?

Not all features come solely from customer feature requests.

This is a customer feature request as you can see from the link above. Given the number of votes it has received, the development work on this is not justified. That is what I'm calling out.

So Subject AI and Background AI masks and other features should have been skipped because they didn't have a feature request or a lot of votes? Software makers consider user feedback in their plans but that isn't all they consider. We don't know all that Capture One knows about their customer base, and I am certain the feature request site is not their only source of influence for new features.

We do not know what Capture One knows about their customer base and they probably do not actually accurately know either. Votes on feature requests only surveys a small number of users. It is a starting point and better than nothing, but not by itself a very good management tool.
For a company to know about its customer base, it needs structured surveys of those users to help focus on how best to allocate resources. Analyzing feedback from unstructured voluntary samples is statistically invalid, which is why polling a defined user population should be done to validate need for development or improvement of a feature. This is a mature, well developed practice that can focus resources and support successful planning based on data driven decisions.

I did not ask for speculations from people that have no idea what is going on, hence why I would like an official answer from CaptureOne on this. My subscription pays for this development that will be useless to me, so a reasonable explanation would be welcomed.

But you posted here in the community forum...

Your subscription goes into a vast pool with all our subscriptions and license fees. That pool funds what Capture One perceives to be valuable to some segment customers which in turn makes it valuable to Capture One.

PCS Yes, that is intentional. I also want the community to know why things are going the way they are. This information benefits everyone who submits a feature request.

Walter Rowe I'm well aware of how subscriptions work. Please reread my OP to understand where the disconnect comes from.
