Advice please - layer masks

    mouse over the image, make sure the brush is enabled, and right-click to bring up the brush settings.

    jonathan moore - I do it the way Walter Rowe suggests, and I think that may be the easiest, but there is another way if you prefer. 

    In the Layers and Masks tool click the icon I have highlighted to bring up brush settings.

    Or - yet another way which is quick and easy - you can use the left and right bracket keys [ and ] to adjust brush size, or hold down shift with [ or ] to change brush hardness. The advantage of that on is that you may already be familiar with it to from other apps that also use [ and ] the same way. You can also create extra keyboard shortcuts if you want to change brush opacity or flow.
