Filtering by MONTH ONLY
AFAIK, the filter tool and Advanced Search allow filtering by MONTH AND YEAR, but not by MONTH ONLY.
My problem:
In a library of 28,000 images taken over the past 40+ years, I need to find ALL images of cherry blossoms in Japan. Therefore, filtering ALL images taken BETWEEN 1979 AND 2024 IN THE MONTHS OF MARCH AND APRIL is the way to go.
What I thought would be easy turns out to be a Herculean task: I would have to select 60 or so criteria: March 1979, April 1979, March 1981, April 1981 etc. etc.
Is there a simple solution to my problem?
Thank you in advance,
Otto

If you are on macOS you can use an AppleScript I created just for this purpose. You enter a month(s) and year range and it creates the criteria for that in a smart album so you don't have to do it manually.
https://github.com/walterrowe/capture-one-scripts/search-by-month
Once the smart album is created you can edit its criteria to add new years over time if you like.
I have other scripts there you also may find useful.

Dear Walter,
Thank you for this incredibly quick reply and fantastic script. Yes, I am on macOS, and it works like magic!!!
Two minor things:
- The last dialogue window says "Enter Start Year," but should be "Enter End Year" instead. I changed my script, but if you find time, it would be a good idea to amend the script on Github.
- The full Github link returns a 404 error, but I was able to get there by omitting /search-by-month.
Happy Holidays from Vienna,
Otto
