JPGs with embedded metadata and no XMP-files. Is this possible?
I know this question have been asked lots of times - but I still can't get my head wrapped around it. Please note that I am a beginner (just starting out with photography and C1), so therefore I might not understand the exact language and implications in previous posts.
Basically, I want to start using C1 for adding keywords and metadata. I only work in JPGs. I want to import photos - edit the keywords/tags - and export them to a different folder outside of C1 (ultimately: Synology photos).
I want to have the JPG-files inside the folders with the metadata I added in C1. I do \*not\* want separate XMP-files. I find that this looks unorganized and cumbersome when I ultimately want to transfer jpgs to other folders that I always need to include XMP-files as well. I only want to deal with the original JPGs where metadata is embedded/printed into the picture (like in Photo Mechanic).
I see lots of comments re. turning on/off auto sync from XMP. However, when I turn \*on\* sync (what I assume I need to do for the metadata to be applied) I get XMP-files. I assume when I turn \*off\* sync - no metadata will be applied? As stated - I am a total beginner and the manual doesn't give me a lot of clearance because of the lingo used.
Is there a way in C1 that I can (i) add metadata to JPGs, (ii) have \*no\* separate XMP-file, and (iii) that third-party platforms (like Synology Photos) will be able to read this embedded metadata without the XMP-file? I appreciate all your comments in advance - because I get lost on the internet without finding the solution for my specific situation.

Capture One never writes to an "original" file. The only way to embed metadata into a file is thru export.

Walter Rowe - many thanks for your response.
Am I correct that if I use JPGs in Capture one - add metadata (such as keywords etc.) - then export these as 'separate' files, that the metadata will be embedded into the JPG, thus removing the need for a separate XMP-file?
Let's say I connect my Fujifilm camera to my computer - I will be culling my images with C1 - add keywords to the pictures and then export these to a folder on my NAS, then all these images will have the metadata included with were added in C1 which can be read by external applications and there is no need for an XMP-file?
I know that the downside is that if I want to edit the metadata again after importing these in the final folder, these won't be embedded because I need to do export again, but that use case will be very limited.

Yes. Exported files will have exif and metadata embedded in them if you set your export recipes to include that. I include it in all of my export recipes.
