Can no longer edit ORF and CR2 files in external programs

All of a sudden, I can no longer edit any of my .ORF files either in CO or in external programs.  CO crashes every time.  Unusally, I can edit my Canon .CR2 files in CO but not any external programs.

 

I have been running CO 22 15.4.3.4 successfully on my iMac I7 , OS 10.15.7 up until Christmas with no issues at all other than lack of support for my OM systems TG-7 raw files which I edit in OM Workspace then import as TIFF into CO.  I meet all system requirements.  I would upgrade to CO23 but I believe it  it is not compatible with OS 10.18.7. 

 

Has anyone else experienced any recent issues?

    When you say you can't edit them, what happens if you try? What camera(s) are the files from?
