How does Capture One actually detect duplicate images?
I am wondering what information is used by Capture One to determine whether an image is a duplicate?
However, when I look at the images, File size differs a lot. GPS coordinates are different. Resolution is different. iPhone lens is different (i.e. same iPhone but different focal length). The two photos were taken 4min apart.
And then, there is this:

I don't think it is saying that these are duplicates of each other. Isn't it saying that they are each duplicates of images that have been imported already?

This is a good point. One could read it that way. I find the phasing misleading if that is what is meant here.

By the way, if it's not obvious where the duplicate images are, you could try checking the catalog trash. Images in the trash won't show up in the All Images collection, but Capture One still treats them as being part of the catalog.

Thanks for letting me know. I found those two files in the catalog trash. They must have been from a previous import. Still, I believe that the wording could be improved to be more helpful.
