How to delete cossesionsdb?

These are session files, not catalog files. They are created each time you create a session. So for example when I created this session called 2025A January session, Capture One created a folder called 2025A January, a session file inside that folder called 2025A January.cosessiondb, and subfolders for Capture, Selects, Output and Trash, like this.

The session file is a database of some aspects of your session. (Not the adjustments, because those are stored elsewhere in sessions, unlike catalogs. But it does include things like albums, smart albums, and other stuff.)

If you have deleted all the images, and you are sure that you no longer need the .cosessiondb files, you can't delete them from within Capture One, but you can just delete them in Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows).

Thank you for your comment. Yes, all those session folders are deleted in finder long time ago, but capture one itself keeps showing them (as open files i guess??). When i press that .cossesiondb file nothing happens...

    Ah. I see, I think.

Capture One has a list of recent sessions and catalogs at the top of the Library tool.

It shows the session or catalog you are currently in like this.

That's a drop-down list and if you click it you get the recent list, like this.

Is that what you mean? If any of those sessions are no longer there, then of course clicking it on the list wont open them. Unfortunately, Capture One doesn't provide a way to selectively remove items from the list. But note the Clear Menu item at the bottom. That will clear them all. The list will gradually repopulate itself as you create new catalogs or sessions or open existing ones. Of course you can't open them from the list if you have cleared it but you can always go to File>Open ... and open them that way (and they will appear in the list after that.)

Not sure thats the case. I will try again, maybe I am not able to describe it properly. Lets say I create a new session called "ABC". After the photoshoot when I edit my photos (not in Capture One) I delete the "ABC" folder in Finder, but when I right click Capture One app icon it still shows ABC.cossesiondb. It does not appear in Library.

    This is what I see.

And below is a screenshot of my current sessions that are active and everything works fine.

For example FreshPost was deleted long time ago, it does not appear in Library but somehow its still visible as FreshPost.cosessiondb when right click Capture One app icon. Is there a way to get rid/delete etc. all those non active, deleted long time ago .cosessiondb files? As far as I can understand Capture One still somehow shows them as open/active files??

I've just done an experiment. I created a new test session, and imported an image to it. Then I changed back to an older session, and closed Capture One. In Finder, I deleted the test session I had just created. I opened Capture One again and it opened at the older session I was in when I closed it. I found that

    • the test session I had created and deleted did NOT appear in the drop-down list at the top of the Library, but
    • it DID appear when I right clicked the icon.

However if I completely clear the list in the Library tool, then both lists seem to get cleared.

I wonder whether the list you get when you right-click the icon is generated by Capture One or by MacOS, and where it is stored.

Recents may be stored in a property list file that doesn't get updated until Capture One is stopped and started again.

I thought that might be the case, but I couldn't find a .plist file that might have recents in it.

Also having read this suggestion of yours, I tried stopping, starting, and stopping Capture One again. But my now deleted test session still appears when I right click or long press the dock icon, though it doesn't appear in the recent list within Capture One.
