Hello Thomas, this could depend much on the image characteristics, however, we would like to keep learning and improving our AI for this matter. Please send us a ticket on support with the details and a sample RAW image for us to investigate further: https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

    Thank you!

Perhaps it would be good in such a case to show a hint (without ok button) that nothing could be added. That way you could be sure that the area has been added and not have to check the mask again and again.

The preview (of what it thinks an AI masking click will do) is not always exactly the same as what a click will actually do, especially if you're zoomed in a fair amount.  That just is what it is.  The preview is a shortcut evaluation that isn't as accurate as the actual click (that's how it can be shown real-time).  I particularly find this to be the case, when the original click left out some smaller detail that I want to mask and I zoom in to better target the smaller detail and it just won't take it with a click.  I end up having to manually mask it with a brush.

FYI, sometimes it's easier to over include an area in a mask and then eliminate what you don't want with the AI eraser.  That is, of course, image and situation-specific.
