Capture One creates a copy of the photo in the backup folder
Good Morning, I typically use session. Recently I've created a catalog of those sessions and other catalogs for older non session photos. I've aloud C1 to backup my catalog to a internal drive for faster access. However today I noticed that C! created a folder called Photography Files and inside that a folder Capture1 and inside that 2 separate files with backup images 1.6T worth of data. please see attached screen grab
I have several questions
1. Is this normal to back up all the images?
2. Can this folder be moved to an external drive (ir all these backup images)
3. Can I delete then and turn this feature of copying images off ? or is this part of the back up process?
4 If need be can I relocate these back up files?
Thank you
Charlie

There is a feature where you can get Capture One to back up images as you import them. You can select this option in the Import panel - see this screenshot.
If you don't want it to do that, uncheck the Backup enabled box.
If that is what has happened, then
- Capture One isn't using the backed up images as you do your edits.
- You could indeed move them to a different location. If you want to use the backup on import feature, pay attention to where it is going to back them up using the Location... setting in the dialog box.
- You could delete them.
This is not the same thing as backing up your catalog. It is a good idea to backup your catalog regularly, but it does NOT back up the image files. It is important to have a system backup of some kind, with whatever backup solution you use on your Windows machine. (You do use one, don't you?)
