Mac: Settings166 subfolders get created and include .cos file during export in Capture One 16.6
In the worksWe’re currently investigating an issue in Capture One 16.6 for macOS that affects how exports are handled in Session workflows.
When exporting to any Session folder that isn’t the parent Output folder, Capture One now creates a CaptureOne subfolder (including Settings166 and .cos files). This behavior was present in earlier versions when exporting to system-selected folders, but in 16.6 it now occurs by default—leading to more visible disruptions in common workflows.
Workarounds:
-
Export outside the session folder: This avoids the folder creation but means exports won’t be tracked as part of the Session, which may affect your workflow if you move Sessions.
-
Disable Session Folders entirely: Go to Capture One > Settings > Catalogs and Sessions, and uncheck Enable Session Folders. Then restart Capture One.
We know neither option is perfect, but both can help reduce the issue.
We’re on it and will keep you posted. Thanks for your patience!
