Nobody can tell me if the Synchronize feature works as I've described for them?

Surely synchronize shouldn't create copies and then import the copies....

Maybe your description is not clear?

I use catalogs in a very simplistic way, my images always begin their C1-life by me moving/copying them into a C1 session sub-folder using Photo Mechanic. I never use C1 (nor Lightroom) to "import" images in the sense of transferring image files to a folder on disk. I find C1 sessions to be quite forgiving when I handle (copy, move, delete) image files using PM or other non-C1 tools. My approach to catalogs fit the model described here: http://blog.phaseone.com/sessions-catal ... th-worlds/ When a session ends up in the catalog, there is no image file handling left to do.

Before adopting the sesson-first-catalog-next I did try various ways to deal with catalogs. As far as I remember, the synchronize folder worked as explained here: https://imagealchemist.net/catalogs-in-depth-part-2/

I know the word "import" confuses several Lightroom users and perhaps some C1 users as well. The way I use C1 and LR, I find the word "register" or the phrase "register in catalog" to be a better fit than "import" is.

This may perhaps provoke some better answers to your question.

Hi OddS, thanks for the reply. It appears that Synchronize isn't working for me as described in that article. Capture One creates duplicate versions and imports/registers those newer versions in the catalogue.

I will contact Phase One Technical Support to let them know. If I get a resolution or even clarification as to what I think is happening I'll post a reply here for future readers.
