Transition from Lightroom?
I'm not unhappy with Lightroom Classic CC but I like to keep my options open and I'm looking into Capture One Pro as an alternative. My library isn't huge, about 20,000 photos. The photos are in folders on my Mac according capture date. O, how I wish I had stored them according to subject for easy transition to C1 sessions! I will work with a duplicate of my Lightroom folder on my iMac's internal fusion drive.
As I understand sessions and catalogs from C1 video tutorials it will be easier to start with C1 by importing my photos into a catalog. I will want a relatively painless way to transition to C1 sessions over time. Suppose that I'm a flower photographer and I have photos with the words rose, lily, azalea, and wildflower in the filename and/or keywords. Can I search within my C1 catalog for "rose" and thus grab all matching photos and move them into the "roses" session that I have created? When I search for rose in my catalog, will C1 search Lr keywords as well as filenames?

My expertise is not in C1 catalogs, but from what I understand if you select all of your "rose" photos from your C1 catalog you could export those photos as a new catalog and then import your newly created "rose" catalog into a session. Alternatively you could use the User Collections to create an album within your catalog and put all of your rose photos there and not use sessions, similar to lightrooms collections.
In C1 there is an option to import your lightroom catalog but I am not certain how well keywords transfer over. C1 does have powerful search abilities for names and keywords.0 -

I have imported a Lightroom catalog to C1 and I can search on filenames and keywords without problems.
