Catalog or Session
Hello, I am new to Capture One and a longtime user of Lightroom. I am just curious how the majority is using it, one catalog for each shoot or 1 catalog with multiple sessions?

I don't use catalogs at all and only work in sessions.

Ok thank you. I guess I really need to read more and learn the major difference. I appreciate the response. 0 -
Here's a link to a webinar on using sessions.
Here's one on catalogs.
And here's on one whether to use catalogs or sessions. (It's based on version 8, but the principle is the same.)
Here's a useful brief blog post about both.
And finally, another blog post on comparing the two approaches. (This one actually dating from version 7, but still the same principle.)

I only use sessions for my raw files, and the development into jpegs of cause.
Then, I import only all developed jpegs into Apple Fotos, where I use "albums" and "intelligent albums" and slideshows for some more organization of my fotos.
I still hope, that the CO1 catalog will become much faster and more powerful in the future.
But I could also live with sessions only and without using Apple Fotos in addition. Having a catalog is not a must feature for me. Image quality and ease of use (e.g. user interface) are my "musts". And as long as Capture is my number one in these aspects, I even don't think about switching to any competitor.
