Quick adding a new layer and selecting radial or linear

Hello,

after a few days of usage i feel the necessity for a shortcut being able to add a new layer and simultaneously selecting the radial or linear gradient tool. Maybe it's only a matter of being accustomed to, but it happens from time to time that i select the radial tool and try to overwrite the current layer mask.
Is it possible? I didn't find a solution for myself.
